Illuminate 2018 Concert Series launch!

Illuminate is a new project to promote the work of emerging women composers and performers as well as giving a platform to historical repertoire by women composers to sit alongside new works. The project has been set up by myself – Dr Angela Elizabeth Slater, a freelance composer who is a strong advocate of the promotion of women’s music both past and present. Six composers – Angela Elizabeth Slater, Blair Boyd, Gemma Mcgregor, Carol J Jones, and Sarah Westwood will be writing exciting new  for performers Késia Decoté (piano), Cassie Matthews (guitar), Sabina Virtosu (violin) and composer-performer Gemma Mcgregor (flute/shakuhachi). These new works will be performed alongside a number of historical women composers such as Morfydd Owen, Lily Boulanger, and Amy Beach.

St Magnus Internation Festival Composition programme 2017

I am also very pleased to announce I have been selected to participate in the St Magnus International Festival Composition programme. I will be working with various visiting artists and writing a new work for the Assembly Project with tutors Sally Beamish and Alisdair Nicholson.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Composer’s Day 2017

Its a new year and I have this wonderfully exciting event coming up, where my orchestral piece Roil in Stillness  will have a workshop performance, led by Mark-Anthony Turnage, conducted by Victor Aviat, Leverhulme Young Conductor in Association.

London Consort of Winds Dance project

I have recently been selected for the exciting opportunity to write a piece to accompany dance for one of the ensembles of the London Consort of Winds. I will paired up with a choreographer and will have the chance to develop a piece together for a performance in spring/summer 2017.

DAR – Lithuanian Residency programme

I have recently been selected for DAR – Lithuanian Residency programme, through which I have the opportunity to write a new work for Wind Orchestra for the shortly titled  The Representative Wind Orchestra of the Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior and  I will participate in an international residency programme in  in the summer of 2016.

– This residency is now fast approaching, and I am excited for the coming performance of my piano work Becloud, to be performed by Dala Li on 18th August and the world premiere of Dark Refractions for symphonic winds to be performed by VRM wind orchestra on 16th August.

Adopt a Composer Scheme with the Lincoln Ukulele Band

This year I have been selected for the exciting Adopt a Composer Scheme. Back in September 2015 I was paired up with my Adoptee’s The Lincoln Ukulele Band.
